FTCA: When Injuries Are Caused by Federal Employees
The Federal government does have a claims process for people injured by the negligence or wrongful actions of federal employees, including the employees of the more than 800 federal health centers.
Claims must be made within the time allowed by state law. It is important to have a lawyer who knows how to investigate and thoroughly document and present the claim.
Attorney Brien Roche has a well-earned reputation for presenting effective claims and obtaining full compensation for his clients.
Medical Malpractice, Traffic Accidents and Other FTCA Claims
The Federal Tort Claims Act was enacted in 1946 to protect federal employees from lawsuits while, at the same time, assuring that injured people are compensated for injuries caused by U.S. government employees.
If a postal truck caused an accident with injuries, for example, the injured people can make a FTCA claim.
Some of the most difficult claims involve medical malpractice claims against federal hospitals, including VA hospitals. At Walter Reed, Bethesda Naval or other federal medical centers, patients do have the right to make claims for medical treatment that does not meet accepted standards of care — just as in any other medical malpractice case.
At the Brien Roche law firm in McLean, Virginia, we have the experience and resources to file effective FTCA claims.
